SINCE 1958, FERME DES VOLTIGEURS HAS BEEN TRACING ITS PATH WITH PASSION, RIGOR AND LOCAL PRIDE. FROM ITS BEGINNINGS AT THE PUBLIC MARKET TO ITS QUEBEC OUTREACH, DISCOVER A HISTORY BUILT ON SUSTAINABLE VALUES.

Our Story: From a Kiosk at the Public Market to the Realization of a Dream

Ferme des Voltigeurs is managed daily by a team of passionate people who specialize in breeding, processing, distributing and marketing superior quality Quebec chicken. Our chickens are fed corn and soy grains, vitamins and minerals, without any animal by-products, animal fat, animal meal or bone meal. This rigorous approach allows us to offer consumers superior quality chicken, ensuring you the secret ingredient of the best chicken recipes in Quebec.

Recognized by the population and by the players in the agri-food industry, Ferme des Voltigeurs de Drummondville is the largest producer and processor of grain-fed chicken in Quebec, fed without animal by-products. This recognition is based in particular on:

  • We only use grains, vitamins and minerals for the feed of our chickens, verified AgroCom;
  • We have been consistently applying and developing best practices in breeding, production and management for over 65 years;
  • We favour a local approach: products by people from here, for people here;
  • We also offer a range of certified organic fresh chicken products so consumers get the most quality options..

Voltigeurs Farm Across Time

1958 – The Foundation

Ferme des Voltigeurs was officially founded by Denise Turcotte, who at the time managed all operations and sold her products at our booth at the Drummondville Public Market.

1963 to 1979 – Investing in a Prosperous Future

Denise Turcotte and Georges Martel unite for life and for business. The newlywed couple will invest time and money to support the growth of the Drummondville company. New facilities were gradually built, including a chicken coop in 1965 and a slaughterhouse in 1973, all to support Quebec chicken production.

1985 to 1998 – Recognition and Growth

A period of strong growth for our company, which converted its farms to grain-fed chickens, without animal by-products, animal fat, animal meal or bone meal, starting in 1985. A unique offer that will allow it to become the largest processor of this quality of chicken in Quebec.  Their sons Dominique and Bernard joined the adventure in the years that followed, allowing Ferme des Voltigeurs to establish itself in the Centre-du-Québec region and develop its presence throughout Quebec.

2000 to 2007 – A Jewel in the Crow of Centre-du-Québec

Nathalie and Georges Jr. also become shareholders, ensuring the full presence of the second generation in this key period of the company’s growth. Several major additions took place, including the federal certification (CFIA) of their processing plant, their first store open 7 days a week directly adjacent to the head-office. Thanks to its modernity and massive investments, Ferme des Voltigeurs won the National Bank’s Provincial Gold Award – Agricultural SME at the 2006 Mercuriades and is increasingly establishing itself as a key SME in the Centre-du-Québec region.

2008 to 2019 – Affirming their values

Ferme des Voltigeurs goes beyond for its consumers by working in collaboration with farmers specializing in organic production to offer a range of certified organic whole chicken products and cuts (Ecocert Canada). Expansion work and additions to infrastructure continue, guided by the desire to always better feed all of Quebec with Quebec chicken that meets the highest standards.

2021 to date – Chicken as it should be

Since 2021, a renewal has been taking place through a redesigned brand image and a new approach to everyday life. A new way of presenting the company and all the actions taken day after day to offer chicken, as it should be. A new positioning that drives the redesign of our packaging as well as the development of our employer brand, while ensuring a clear direction, based on our deep values. We continue to thrive on growth, this time through the expansion of our processing plant, its modernization and especially its automation, allowing us to offer jobs with safe conditions in addition to our superior quality products. The year 2025 ends on a high note with the acquisition of the Volgo company, a natural union that amplifies the influence of Ferme des Voltigeurs. The company is thus acquiring a production capacity essential to the realization of its expansion vision and the marketing of new cooked prepared products on a national scale, while maintaining its expertise locally.

Our Passionate and Dedicated Team

Ferme des Voltigeurs boasts a passionate and dedicated team across all its departments, from breeding to distribution.
